Sand Valley creates family getaways in Wisconsin dunes in all four seasons

Brig Jones fell in love with Sand Valley on a boys’ trip three years ago. Eventually his wife, Michelle, wanted in on the fun, and that’s when the Jones family—including their three young children—fell in love with a resort that starts with golf, but has increasingly become so much more.
“Sand Valley is now one of our favorite—if not the favorite—family vacation destinations,” says Jones.
For Jones, it starts with the golf—the family’s kids love the free form nature of the Sandbox, for example—but the fact Sand Valley is about tennis, hiking, biking, and the art of the hang, makes it ideal for everyone on the trip.
“My wife loves the hiking and the fact Sand Valley offers rods and tackle for fishing,” says Jones. “And then there’s tennis, biking, practicing your golf swing, playing on the trails, with the kids jumping in the dunes, and general relaxation. There’s just so much we didn’t initially expect.”
All of this was even more central given the challenges of 2020. Social distancing. Pandemic pods. These are terms that weren’t in our vocabulary until last year, but will now be forever engrained in our thinking and in our culture. It has redefined the way we live, travel and vacation and set in motion a new era of shared experiences–one that puts an emphasis on nature and spending time together outdoors. It was this mentality and opportunity that prompted Sand Valley to create and market an entirely new category of guest experiences and welcome a new audience to the resort in 2020—families.
